Body Composition vs. Weight: What Should You Track?

Imagine losing four pounds of fat while gaining four pounds of lean mass. Scale weight would be unchanged, yet your composition and strength could be different. Real-life change is rarely that tidy, but the example shows why scale weight alone can hide progress.
The opposite can happen too. Rapid weight loss may include water or lean tissue, which is one reason to pair a reasonable nutrition plan with resistance training and adequate protein under qualified guidance.
